An Informal Two-Part Self-Discovery
Exercise
Part One: Exploring
Describe, in a written paragraph
or two, a good experience that you have had with nature--as either
a child or as an adult. Include in your description the
attractive thoughts, feelings and sensations during that experience
that made it worthwhile.
Part Two: Responding
The following are a few
simple observations made by a large number of adult psychology
students concerning their nature experiences. Using the 1-10 rating
scale, identify the number that matches the extent of your agreement
with the students.
A. Sensations I enjoyed and that others could enjoy
included: colors, sounds, love, aromas, belonging, moods, contrasts,
spirit, sizes, distance, trust, motion, peace, texture, reverence,
community, awe, purity and place.
