GRADUATE STUDENT
COOPERATIVE
APPLICATION INFORMATION
...Process
LEARNING BY PARTICIPATING:
SPECIAL NOTE: The
sections of the introductory material are part of a required
course, ORT 500. It acquaints students with the way we organize
the program the IGE Cooperative and Greenwich University. You
automatically are taking part of this course as you learn more
about the degree program. For this reason, permit us to make
a learning and study suggestion:
Note that the information
may be brought to mind by a few questions about it. For example:
Question: Does a
student have to only use the courses offered in the program to
meet the degree requirements?
Question: What are
two advantages and one disadvantage of filling degree requirements
with transfer courses and equivalent prior learning?
Note that if you
don't know an answer, you can look it up in the tuition page Paragraph 2.
Because this material
and the web page links in it, are part of a required Cooperative
Education Orientation Course, ORT 500, you are actually doing
part of the course right now. The purpose of ORT 500 is
to help you master the knowledge and materials needed for you
to function in a unique, online, graduate student learning cooperative.
The object of the course is to give you the expertise
you need to properly administer and sustain your degree program
and help others in the program do likewise.
A good way to learn
and remember the material on these pages and in the Greenwich
Program Handbook you will receive, is to change it into questions,
as in the example above. Then, to test if you know and understand
the material, at any time, you can ask yourself the questions
and see if you know the answers; keep the questions and answers
near each other (for example on different sides of a page.) This
is an excellent way to learn written material. You actually learn
much of it without trying as you formulate it into your questions.
You also will score unusually high on course exams, if given,
at the end of the semester because you will have in hand the
questions to the exams and the answers too. You can study from
them. Faculty often use your questions, and those of others to
make up the exam.
For this course,
or any course, when you can answer all the questions you make,
you know you have mastered the material. That way there are few
surprises on your comprehensive exam. Especially important
is that in the Cooperative you will use this information to
help other students with their program. You grades will partially
depend upon how well you do this.
We suggest you start
your question formulating now as you work with the information
that follows.
