This program is available to individuals or organizations that recognize three significant facts.
"Our education and socialization works well to help us form good thinking habits. For example, I asked 100 people, 'Isn't it true that humanity lives on the surface of Planet Earth?" and 97 of them said 'Yes.' But we actually don't."
-Organic Psychology Student
Sad to say, we needlessly suffer many disorders and discontents simply because we don't recognize that our leadership socializes us away from an excellent remedy for our disorders. For example,
You habitually perceive the words you are now reading but seldom perceive the individual letters that form them. However, as a child, it was the letters that were important. Now that I've brought this to your attention you can see the letters, but before long, out of habit or addiction the words will dominate again.
If I ask you what else do you see as you read this sentence, how long would it take before you mentioned that you see your nose, or the glasses you may be wearing? You always see them, but, like the letters, above, you have been habituated to not pay attention to them.
The effects of the absence in our mind of letters, glasses or our nose as we read is not significant. Very significant, however, is the habit of withholding or, worse still, lying about, an important scientific fact, a powerful truth that determines our well-being. To withhold it is to commit the sin of omission. Yet our leaders continually hide it, even after it is called to their attention. They say the information is too controversial. As a result, we and the environment suffer unnecessarily.
When our leaders fail us we must take things into our own hands. We can learn how to correct the effects of the flaw they place in our lives and we can help others do likewise. It has shown to be effective, in addition, to bring law suits against leaders in government and industry who continue to mislead us. This brings to their attention what they are doing. It stops them from continuing to be negligent and irresponsible.
A Major Challenge
Here's the issue. Without realizing it you are no doubt aware of the following commonly taught and widely held scientific falsehood. You, no doubt, habitually accept it to be true:
"Earth is covered with water, rock and soil. Animals, including people, and plants live almost everywhere on Earth's surface. We can live on Earth because it is just the right distance from the sun."
- World Book of Knowledge
Our most trusted leaders help produce the destructive stress and troubles we suffer by emotionally bonding us in early childhood to this inaccurate belief about our relationship with Earth. They falsely fixate us, by age six, to think that we live on the surface of Planet Earth. This colors the rest of our personal and collective lives.
But we don't live on Earth's surface. We live in the Earth, imbedded three hundred miles deep in its atmosphere and another ten miles deeper in its biosphere.
Since 1929 scientists have demonstrated that Planet Earth has, beneath its atmosphere, a natural biosphere zone where it sustains all life on the planet, including us. Without the biosphere we might be as dead as Mars or Venus.
The biosphere is where Earth integrates its atmosphere, sunlight, ocean, soil, plants animals and minerals. In mutual support, this community cooperatively thrives without producing garbage or pollution or our excessive stress and violence.
It is important for us to recognize how the biosphere operates for its welfare is our own.
How Nature Works
The purifying flow of the water cycle throughout the biosphere exemplifies how natural systems in the biosphere maintain the well-being of all of life, including us. This includes the life of our mentality, of our thoughts, feelings and perceptions. As inhabitants and dependents of the biosphere, our survival, health and happiness rest upon the purifying flow of natural system within and about us. These systems contain grace, balance and restorative powers that continually recycle destructive materials and relationships.
To our perceptual loss, as exemplified by how we habitually overlook letters, glasses and our nose, we detach our thinking and feeling from the biosphere, on average, over 98 percent of our lifetime. We become consciously disconnected from natural systems. This extreme breach stops the purifying flow of natural systems through our psyche. Without them, our mind stagnates, our reasoning becomes contaminated, we become stressed and our troubles begin.
Disconnected from natural systems, like a computer unplugged from an electric socket, our thinking is neither able to repair our or its disorders nor re-plug itself. It needs help.
An Appropriate Remedy
As long as we habitually think that we live on the surface of the Earth, and not in the biosphere, our systems-estranged mentality is unable to recognize that a powerful antidote and preventative for our dilemma is readily available. On-line or on-site, the sensory science of Organic Psychology found in the books "Reconnecting With Nature" and "The Web of Life Imperative" enables our thinking and feeling to improve by plugging directly into the regenerative ways of natural systems, backyard or backcountry.
We must trust our experiences, not our polluted leadership. Most of us know from experience that a short walk in a natural area momentarily renews us as natural systems begin to flow through our psyche. Seldom do educators, psychologists or health professionals tell us that Organic Psychology provides us with tools to strengthen and lengthen this process. As we use these tools in our personal or professional life, we increase our well-being, locally and globally.
Lest the healing effects of natural systems sounds like science fiction, consider this documented medical science research. It demonstrates that, even without using Organic Psychology to increase their effects, sensory connections with nature begin to provide benefits:
People help rejuvenate and improve their lives by having a pet, going for a hike, keeping a garden, or vacationing in a beautiful place.
Surgical patients have shorter hospitalizations, less need for pain medications, and fewer complaints about discomfort when they have hospital windows that overlook trees rather than brick walls.
Post-traumatic stress victims recover by connecting in a natural area to "something larger than themselves." in nature.
Stressed men and women viewed tapes of urban or natural scenes. Individuals who viewed the natural, as opposed to the urban, scenes experienced more and complete stress recovery.
Effects of Organic Psychology
An Organic Psychology Student in an email to her online study group wrote: "This past week I had the wonderful opportunity of taking my 12 year old son to Washington D.C. As we visited the sights of D.C., I endeavored to bring Organic Psychology into play. So wherever we visited, I found myself increasingly aware of the natural surroundings. Somehow the monuments seemed even more beautiful than I had remembered them and I began to realize what a difference the towering pines surrounding the monuments gave to both their beauty and to the overall feeling of being there. I felt such a sense of gratitude for being able to be there with my son, as I immersed myself in the beauty and grandeur of it all.
One particular moment occurred while we were at Mt. Vernon. My husband, son, and I had just finished the tour of Washington's home. We emerged to look out from the veranda at the wonderful view of the Potomac, framed by rolling green and fall colors shimmering from the trees. I paused to thank the natural system attractions within and around me for being there for me and for the peace and gratitude that filled my heart, as I stood where Washington stood. No wonder he loved his home so much.
After paying our respects at Washington's tomb, we decided to walk down to the river. The dirt path was surrounded on each side by towering maples at various stages of color change. I breathed in the beauty and exhaling- asked this beautiful spot for permission to be with it and do this Organic Psychology activity in its presence. In my heart, I promised to treat it honorably. I felt it gave its consent, it was as attracted to me as I was to it.
After stopping briefly at the waters edge, we ascended the path again. I kept my focus on the trees with gratitude. Suddenly, I felt grateful for everything and everyone around me. What a gift to share this moment with my husband and son.
It was then that nature danced with me. A gentle, yet firm, breeze came through the tops of the trees. A shower of leaves- crimson and gold, fell diagonally from the tops of the trees in front of our path. They continued to swirl just in front of us, as we walked- as if honoring and welcoming our passage there.
Before leaving the hotel that morning, I had been feeling stressed wondering if we were going to be able to fit in all our planned activities for the day and still do them all justice. As I walked up that path, any thoughts of what needed to happen "next" melted away. There was only that moment and the rapture of it.
The message in the leaves was that I could trust my good natural feelings and that all would work out as needed.
What I see is that to enjoy how natural system connections has always peacefully united, supported and interconnected all life, including people, The Organic Psychology processenables us to genuinely reconnect with sensory natural attraction in natural areas and keep them alive in our thinking as much as possible.
My increased awareness of natural system attractions in nature has fostered an expanding of my heart space. My heart still gets closed up at times, but I find that when I immerse myself in nature or write about my experience my heart opens again and I feel nourished and alive.
What is so amazing to me is that natural systems have always been there uniting, supporting, and connecting me to all life. I just wasn't aware of them. But now, I feel their warmth in my heart space. I'm coming to realize, too, that connecting with the natural world also includes being able to connect with people, for we are natural systems, too.

"Human behavior is rooted most deeply in nature's intentions and desire. The rhythms of nature underlie all of human interaction: religious traditions, economic systems, cultural and political organization. When these human forms betray the natural psychic pulse, people and societies get sick, nature is exploited and entire species are threatened."
-Stephen Aizenstat
In industrial society our excessively nature-separated lives mold us to betray the natural psychic pulse. We learn to block from our thinking over 95 percent of the wise sensory callings and fulfillments we normally receive from natural systems and their eons of experience. Our hurt and frustration from the severed disconnection of these senses underlies our greatest troubles.-Michael J. Cohen
