OPTIONAL PUBLIC EDUCATION
SUGGESTIONS
At Project NatureConnect, the
major reason our course and degree program can be offered is
because it makes a unique nature-connecting contribution to well
being that is often omitted in other disciplines. It is a sorely
needed missing component in most aspects of contemporary society
and is therefore given financial assistance by those who recognize
its value.
Our programs can continue and
grow as long as folks who appreciate them support them in whatever
way they can.
While some of us may not be
able to fully contribute financially as participants, we hope
everybody will find the time to help with public education about
the value of nature-connected learning and relationships. To
this end, we will make the guides and resources, below, available
to assist you.
If you are on or have completed
our Orientation Course, please join
our PncPublicRelationsEducation Group at Yahoo.com. Do either
1 or 2 below
1. send an email
to
pncpublicrelationseducation-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
-OR-
2. Visit http://groups.yahoo.com/group/pncpublicrelationseducation/join
3. Share your ideas, contacts
and results with others in the group, they will do the same with
you. You will get occasional emails from others who are making
contacts.
4. You can send an email to
the group moderators from this page if you have questions or
suggestions
If you want to help in other
ways with public education, also please let us know by email.
Then we can let you know what special opportunities may become
available. For example, you might be invited to write and article
but don't have the time. Let the group (and the Co-op) know and
somebody else might be interested, or vice versa.
In general, all you need to
do is one or more of the suggestions below. The best way to do
this is make up and store announcements so you may quickly paste
one into an email or web page form whenever the occasion arises.
NEW: A DVD about NSTP, sort of, will be
available by June 2007. http://www.ecopsych.com/DVDvideofilmkey.html
You can review it and/or let folks know about it as well as NSTP.
1. Please occasionally just
send a simple email to
an appropriate individual or organization that needs help or
guidance. Say something like:
"Are you aware of the
powerful benefits from nature-connected learning? You may explore
them at http://www.ecopsych.com
or
Al Gore notes that personally,
socially and environmentally we are dysfunctional because our
thinking is disconnected from the grace balance and restorative
powers of nature and the natural. Would you be interested in
helping me help others and myself remedy this dilemma through
the nature-connected learning and healing tools at http://www.ecopsych.com?
or
"Would you like to use
a sensory process to increase personal, social and environmental
well-being? You can customize this tool to support your interests
and help you improve personal and environmental relationships.
Benefit from full information at http://www.ecopsych.com"
If enough of us do this it
will make a difference as folks ready for PNC will become aware
and involved with the program as well as tell others.
and/or
2. Rewrite/edit/or create
a short introductory note
or letter that shows its reader the benefits nature-connected
learning offers in the reader's areas of interest. Many areas
of focus that you can use, are on our homepage http://www.ecopsych.com.
and/or
3. Write a brief self-history
and rationale that
explains why you are learning nature-connected psychology, how
it has been helpful and how it would be of service to a topic
being discussed in a person/journal/newspaper/blog.
This could also serve as a
letter to the Editor of a newspaper or other periodical or as
a letter of inquiry saying it is important that the Editor do,
or include, or accept a review from you, of www.ecopsych.com
and stating why.
and/or
4. Ask a web-site, organization,
Blog, or individual if
they are using nature-connected learning as described at http://www.ecopsych.com,
and how it is working for them, or if they could evaluate it
from their point of view as you are writing an article about
its contributions, or you are thinking about studying it.
and/or
5. Visit web sites, discussion
lists, news letters and
news groups whose topics are of interest to you and/or that would
benefit from using Organic Psychology books, courses or degree
programs.
Join one or two temporarily,
and as the opportunity presents itself, send appropriate individuals
a short note that motivates them to visit our home page at http://www.ecopsych.com
or one of our other pages you think might be of assistance to
them.
A good list of available articles
and letters is available at http://www.ecopsych.com/artnews.html
For example, you might say " I appreciate your interest
and efforts in stress management. As have I and many others,
you will find the program at http://www.ecopsych.com/ helpful
in this regard."
and/or
6. Help folks get involved
with the program through
the books. Develop a letter that contains parts of the book descriptions
available at
http://www.ecopsych.com/newbook2007.html
http://www.ecopsych.com/2004wli.html
7. Visit online book stores like Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Walden,
Borders and go to pages that announce Reconnecting With Nature
and/or Web of Life Imperative. If they have a place to make a
comment, please do so.
and/or
8. Look in the search engines under
keywords (like environmental education, nature, naturalist, alternative,
etc) and contact sites that appear in that keyword.)
blogs,
discussion groups,
mailing lists,
discussion lists,
newsletters,
web sites,
book sales or review sites
in the subject area you want to explore. Join a group and post
an appropriate message when you can, directing it towards the
purpose of those you write. You can then stay and continue, or
quit the group and go on to another. You can also email an editor
or administrator from a web page contact address.
You can find groups at
http://groups.yahoo.com
http://www.asindexing.org/site/backndx.htm
Please let us know if you have
additional ideas or find additional web pages that help people
locate groups so we may list them here
Below are a few general letters
you can modify, improve and/or sign for any appropriate situation
that you locate:

"Most people know that
we live on the surface of Planet Earth. But do we?"
- Reconnecting With Nature,
(Ecopress, 2007)
Our troubled lives result from
us learning to believe the opposite about life from what we directly
experience by being part of life. As this breach grows it creates
a destructive conflict deep in our psyche. It deteriorates our
trust in how we think and feel. It weakens our identity.
Today, the stress from this
conflict is epidemic. It underlies most health, social and environmental
disorders
A source of our conflict is
that our society teaches us to believe we live on the surface
of Planet Earth. This opposes our experience. Our experience
says we live imbedded in the Earth, not on it. We see and know
that we live 300 miles under its atmosphere, beneath its air,
clouds, rain, snow and flying creatures. Yet, it feels foreign
to say, "We live in the Earth."
The person-planet clash in
our thinking is secretly destructive. It troubles our senses
of self, place and trust. Our senses of peace, community and
belonging also deteriorate along with many other sensitivities.
Bewildered, we think this discord is normal and, in one sense,
it is. Most of us don't feel centered or grounded.
Our loss of healthy fulfillment
from and for our natural senses stresses us. It makes us want.
For this reason we excessively accept satisfactions from unreasonable
drugs, people and technologies. This undermines our relationships,
the environment and our well being.
To reverse our troubles we
need strength and answers, not conflict, from our place and relationships
in nature and the cosmos. We best obtain this support by using
a potent tool that helps our thinking and feeling genuinely tap
into, and benefit from, nature's grace, balance and restorative
powers.
At http://www.ecopsych.com,
research, books and courses provide a funded, nature-connecting
remedy for our personal and planet-home troubles. Its accredited,
hands-on sensory process can be added to any relationship or
discipline.
I invite you to visit or review

Reconnecting With Nature
A new book and web site for
Reconnecting With Nature teaches a hands-on sensory science
that helps us increase personal and environmental health. Its
process not only demonstrates that natural systems are self-correcting
and purifying, it enables us to think and feel with their grace
balance and restorative powers. Increase your well being. Help
nature beneficially recycle industrial society's contamination
of our psyche and relationships. http://www.ecopsych.com/

Dear XXXXXXXX,
I applaud your dedication to
learning how to address the many disorders that deteriorate the
well being of our society and Earth. In appreciation, we offer
you a significant tool to help further your efforts. Its readily
applied process empowers us to correct the source of many troubles
. It should be added to your every effort if we are to increase
our well-being.
"A drunk one night lost
his watch in the middle of a city block; he never found it because
he searched for it at the street corner where the light was much
brighter."
In industrial society, isn't
the light we see misleading us? How bright are we?
"Most of our populace
and all of our leaders are participating in a MASS, HALLUCINATORY,
FEELING-NUMBING FANTASY. In it:
- the megatons of waste we
dump in our rivers and bays are not poisoning the water, our
body or our spirit.
- the hydrocarbons we pump
into the air are not changing the climate of Earth or deteriorating
our health.
- over-fishing is not depleting
the oceans, over-consumption does not hurt the environment.
- living estranged from nature's
grace and restorative powers does not reduce our resilience,
produce loneliness or intensify our dysfunctions.
- fossil fuels will never run
out, our fossilized thinking will produce social justice.
- our senses and feelings are
not an important part of the way our natural systems work.
- wars that kill masses of
civilians are an appropriate way to keep our hands on what's
left and to keep alive the half-truths we believe.
- we are not desperately overdrawn
at the environmental or emotional bank,
- sensory activities that connect
our thinking to nature's healing ways don't help us act more
intelligently and increase our well being,
- and really, although by age
seven our kids emotionally bond to this frightening mass hallucination
and we have to put them on calming drugs, they are all right."
- Barbara Kingsolver (edited)
The reason we continue to suffer
our most pressing problems is because, like an inebriated person,
our thinking and feeling is disturbed (1). We are not holistic,
we have not located the irresponsible parts of psychology, education
and science that cause our personal and environmental troubles.
They have recently been identified; we must now remedy them.
Let me risk sounding as stupid
as the rocket scientist who said, "The intense heat of the
Sun is no problem; we can land people there by doing it at night."
I'll take this risk because our situation is no joking matter.
My research shows that we and the environment suffer because
our thinking has learned to ignore two irrefutable scientific
facts about education and psychology:
(See http://www.ecopsych.com. Tell others about it.)
1) To increase our personal,
social and environmental well-being we must effectively address
a powerful debilitating ailment, Natural System Dysfunction (NSD).
Natural systems are nurturing and self-correcting. NSD results
from our nature-separated lives stopping the nurturing, corrective
flow of natural systems in and through our psyche. Our psyche
becomes disturbed when it is not renewed by the flow.
NSD desensitizes most of industrial
society so we seldom see it at work. We do, however, observe
and feel its wide ranging detrimental effects. It injures our
psyche, limits our thinking and increases our vulnerability to
the disorders we suffer (4)
Our NSD desensitization makes
our thinking disrespect, disregard and unwittingly exploit or
conquer the grace, balance and restorative powers of natural
systems within and around us. When healthy, the flow of natural
systems supports the well-being of life and its eons, including
the life of our thinking, feeling and relationships. Our erosion
of natural systems and their flow due to NSD underlies most of
the disorders that plague Earth and humanity.
http://www.ecopsych.com/globalwarming44.html#anchorreport
2) Organic Psychology is an
enabling tool that empowers us to plug our thinking into the
self-correcting ways of natural systems, backyard or backcountry.
With the help of the restored flow of these systems we restore
our natural senses and well-being. This process is a potent,
readily available antidote and preventative for NSD (2, 3).
Organic Psychology, free of
charge, gives us the sensory means to strengthen the vigor of
natural systems within and about us. This helps us toughen our
resilience and increase our wellness while reducing health and
environmental problems and budgets (5).
Discussion:
Echoing advanced thinkers throughout
history, Psychologist Stephen Aizenstat has noted:
"Human behavior is rooted
most deeply in nature's intentions and desire. The rhythms of
nature underlie all of human interaction: religious traditions,
economic systems, cultural and political organization. When these
human forms betray the natural psychic pulse, people and societies
get sick, nature is exploited and entire species are threatened."
Our health and relationships
suffer because Natural System Dysfunction addicts us to unnecessarily
spend over 95 percent of our time indoors and needlessly disconnect
99 percent of our thinking from the restorative functions of
natural systems. This omission betrays the natural psychic pulse.
Plagued by this deficit, important parts of our lives and mentality
are toxic, not organic. To our loss, we work against natural
systems instead of enlisting their regenerative, self-correcting
ways (6).
"We are dysfunctional
socially and environmentally because we are cut off and isolated
from the world of nature and the natural."
-Albert Gore, Vice President, USA Author, Earth in the
Balance
"What we are doing to
the forests of the world is but a mirror reflection of what we
are doing to ourselves and to one another."
-Mahatma Gandhi
The science of Organic Psychology
helps us to think with nature's integrity by enabling us to create
moments that let Earth teach. It helps us improve our health
by, at will, tapping into the supportive and renewing ways of
natural systems within and around us. Natural systems have the
organic ability to decompose, compost and recycle the pollution
of life systems; this includes the toxic waste in the life of
our psyche. They help us remove our mind pollution, the hurt
and destructive NSD aspects of our thinking. They help us transform
our disorders into cooperative relationships because that's how
natural systems work, that's why nature does not produce garbage.
To further contribute to the
public, and to increase the its confidence in you, I urge you
to support and use Organic Psychology as a tool to help us reverse
NSD and our dilemmas (7). You can specialize in it or add it
to any profession, interest or relationship. I offer you the
dedicated services of trainers and consultants in this regard.
For your information, a special
report about Natural System Dysfunction (4) and Organic Psychology,
is located at http://www.maverickgenius.com/nsdomission.html.
I would be happy to consult
with you to explore ways for you to make Organic Psychology fulfill
its potential for good. This will produce heightened attraction
to your efforts, for a vast majority of the public suffers from
NSD and seeks a remedy for it. Organic Psychology is readily
available online at http://www.ecopsych.com/
