Synopsis
The
addition of educating, counseling and healing with nature activities to
healing hands and healing hypnosis has strengthend these practices and
increased their benefits to both client and practioner. The
activities help participants consciously bring into play the spirit and
natural attraction properties of nature that are an essence of
all mind and body healing. This combination, at will
introduces the
purifying and recycling benefits of nature into the thoughts and
feelings of an individual. Dr. Mark Germine, a
psychiatrist and editor of the PsychoScience Journal observes
"I've done healing hypnosis and other techniques and have not seen such
a
deeply unconscious state brought to the surface before."
What appear,
below are shared statements from the Journals of participants who have
integrated Educating, counseling and healing with nature with their
professional and/or personal
restorative practices.
Results of some Nature
Connection Activities Done by Students
of Mind Body Healing and Healing Hands Therapies.
"I needed to get the halter off of the
wild mare so I could turn her out into the big pasture. It
took a bit to catch her. Then I needed to work with her to
get to let me get close to her. When she realized I was
trying to get the halter off she stood still for me. After
getting the halter off I opened up the round pen into the dry
lot. When I opened the gate out into the main pasture, she
looked at the opening and refused to go out. Another horse
went into the drylot with her and she just moved around the horse and
stayed in the drylot. I had to tie open the gate to the main pasture
but first I had to find something to tie the gate with.
Finally got the gate tied open then chased the wild mare and her baby
out.
Once she got out of the dry lot she took her baby only a few steps away
from the other horses. She will be a lot happier with the
other horses and out in the pasture.
The mare is not able to see the bigger picture. It is not
easy to know what is best for us when we can not see much beyond our
feet. I think many folks find the big picture of what's
predicted so frightening that they can't bare to look, so they miss
seeing the vibrant, effervescent, joyful possibilities of this perilous
but pregnant earth time. Some of the
children that we work with are not able look beyond a few hours at a
time. There is a great program to help foster children after
they turn 18, only you have to participate for several months before
you turn 18. Many kids refuse to participate then want the funds and
help. There is no help for them from this program.
It is sad. We try to encourage them to join the program, however we
cannot force them to attend. I can wrangle the wild mare to
do want I need for her to do, sometimes I wish I could with the foster
kids. The foster kids have had enough wrangling before they get to us."

"I had a fabulous time with this exercise. My ‘natural place’, with
this case ‘animal’ begged me for participation. I have been away from
home with work for nearly a week. During that time we had a huge storm
at home and lost power for 4 days. With the terrible weather my husband
did not want to go for a walk and get sweaty and come home to a cold
house. Therefore, one of our dogs was almost out of her skin. When I
put on my ‘walking outfit’ (clothes, boots and backpack) she was beside
herself. She was following me around, prancing at the door and finally
whining. I asked her if she wanted to go for a walk and she looked at
me like I had horns – of course dummy, why would I be acting like this
if I wanted to stay lying down in front of the fire – is what I heard.
She had so much pent up energy, she pulled me around the block.
STATEMENT 1: The animal in this natural area that I like is my dog
Lightning. I like her because she is beautiful, energetic, attentive
and full of life.
STATEMENT 2: I like myself because I am beautiful, energetic, attentive
and full of life. Hey, that is pretty cool. Not sure about the
beautiful part but the rest seems to fit well. We always joke that
people have pets that resemble them in both personality and style.
Maybe so."

"I decided to go down the sledding hill which needs clearing
of brambles and a few small trees that are on the edge of this swath of
hill. This is where the children sled before the Solstice
Celebration. I felt very welcomed here, a feeling of
happiness and peace filled me. Isn't it remarkable how
clearly we are able to feel whether consent is present? I
marvel at how deafly and blindly I sometimes continue down a path
despite the loud playing of warning signals telling me to stop and find
a clear natural attraction.
With a sense of the woods consent, I started pulling some of
the brambles which I think are gooseberry and it was an incredible
experience of connection! The roots went everywhere on the
hill. I kept pulling and more and more vines of roots
appeared. I have never seen such widespread strong root
systems before. I felt like I was being given a physical
demonstration of webstrings which made me smile happily because my
Western Civilization disconnected from Nature stories are still quite
prevalent much of the time. Earth really knew what I needed
to learn.
The roots went everywhere, up and down the hill and across and
zigzagging. The soil on this hill is very loamy and there is
a thick leaf cover so the sensation of pulling them up was almost like
they flowed from the earth into my hands. “Pay attention”
they seemed to say, “we are all connected!” After I had
looped them up and hung them on a tree so I can find these long vines
and make something with them, I walked further into the
woods. I stopped many times to check my list and identify
more than my 5 senses."

"For some, God things are not discussable. They are
sensory attachments that reason alone cannot change. This
stood out to me as a very important knowing. When I was young
and in a religious elementary school, developmentally everything they
taught me went through my senses and emotions. This was a
very intellectual religion and so the form for these lessons was in
intellectual phrasings as we got older. I began to
be able at least to think about what seemed true or not true, but
learning the Bible stories and the lessons extrapolated from them
through feelings and emotions as a child, the foundation of belief was
laid deeply. Gradually I have been able to expand my mind
with reason and now as I open again to the level of senses and
emotions, I have my new thinking to help me “discuss”
(question, expand) the beliefs learned as a child.
This foundation of learning through senses and emotions as a child is
one of the many reasons why getting young children outside to
experience Nature, to be with Earth is so important. They
experience sensory attachments with Earth and they would be less
vulnerable to disconnected stories that they are exposed to later.
For me, the essence of Therapy is helping each client to identify and
explore the love, the attraction relationships that are their unique
essence. I have found that RWN as a practice for me and for a
few of my clients has been a very powerful way to identify and claim
this deep essence. To discover yourself in Nature and Nature
in your self is very powerful and fun."

"I was drawn by lovely sparkling frost-sprinkles which drifted down
through the branches of the trees yesterday morning, to review the
chapter out nestled in my fallen apricot tree. So, I took a
blanket and sleeping bag and created a cozy nest I'm very
attracted to this nest, and can see you in it clearly there in
the branches, sat quietly, and read through the chapter again, looking
for attractions and insights. I read, "It is
reasonable to participate in the process of tapping into nature's
balanced intelligence. It is reasonable to learn to think
with that intelligence since it evokes comfortable feelings and has the
wisdom to avoid our runaway problems."
I felt together with my apricot tree, like we were a ship sailing the
seas together, all in one body. The branches tucked
themselves all around me, and on every surface, little sprouts sprung
out as apricots are wont to do, reaching for attractions, making new
friends, and saying "Thank You" to the world around them. I
felt myself with these little sprouts, reaching out in gratitude and
friendship toward the tree, the sparkling frost, the sunshine, the
fresh air, and to my own heart.
I reflected on my sense of nature's essence as a form of spirit,
affirming this most certainly; for me the spiritual nature of this
essence lives fresh and present in the moment; and miracles of love
happen everywhere, all the time, sometimes when we least expect
them. I am continually amazed at how miracles of love spring
up in the gloomiest, ickiest places, even in the dark, machine-like
places far from where nature blooms and grows freely. Where
there is a beating heart or a tiny growing edge of green, NIAL is there
making love happen. This is what I love about life.
This is why I am here."
^^^
I
am quite a pessimist and have, in a way, given up on the place where I
live - maybe because I was not careful enough to channel the my nature
energy in the right directions because I have become too attached to
the connection I feel with nature around me which can be very painful.
I feel too drained by the environmental situation and all the issues I
have followed over the years and in a way I would like to shut down and
ignore what is happening. This course is interesting to me as it helps
me gain different perspectives without giving up entirely.
I
can now see that this course is going to cater to many of my desires,
beliefs and values. I tend to have a pretty negative outlook on the way
our society functions, and wish to turn that negativity around.
To me it seems as though we humans are missing the point of life and
are destroying nature and pure consciousness in our wake.
Since
everything in the universe wants to be balanced and find equilibrium,
it is strange that most people are unaware that something is very off
balance. We can see this great unbalance in the numbers of Americans
who suffer from endogenous anxiety and the amount of drugs and
pollutants we put into our bodies and planet in order to escape form
the world we live in. This demonstrates that society’s current belief
systems and reliance on technology is probably not the answer.
As one of my important subject areas
pointed out - our planet
cannot be saved with intellectual resources alone; we must have a
personal connection to the natural world as well. Since most
people
are severely disconnected with nature, they are lacking this personal
connection and feel entitled to controlling it instead. As our textbook
said “all our pain, fear and stress are attractions telling us we
don’t have sensory support in the moment”. Since we do not
acknowledge these attractions, we loose touch with our natural course
of life. If PNC has enabled students to bring environmental concepts
into their consciousness that they have always felt but had trouble
expressing, and has provided hope for the future, then I am excited to
learn more because I have always felt that something is askew in the
world but never understood what exactly. I would like to have hope for
the future and see humanity turn around and embrace this beautiful,
amazing world we live in. I feel as though communities are no longer
united and we live in a individualistic society where personal
relationships tend to be artificial. Therefore reading how
participants in Dr. Cohen’s study were able to build a safe and loving
community where most problems subsided such as loneliness, hostility
and depression makes me believe that PNC might be the answer we are
looking for. By emphasizing similarities instead of differences,
communities will grow strong together and can reflect that larger
faith and understanding that “I am not separate from the world around
me but an integral part of it”.
