A Nature
Remedy is Available for Our Terrorist Sabotage-Suicide Destruction of
Spaceship Earth
"We suffer because Industrial Society
teaches us to be 'terraists' (sic) against the natural world,
around and in us. Our beliefs socialize us to sabotage 'Spaceship
Earth,' just like suicide bomber terrorists are trained to blow up
airplanes while they ride them. We learn to profit from this stupid
insanity instead of learning how to think like nature's purity, beauty
and cooperation work."
-
Project NatureConnect
At the 1986 International Symposium "Is the Earth a Living Organism"
at the University of Massachusetts, a study was presented reporting
that the amount of carbon buried beneath the Earth's surface as coal
and oil, was half the amount of oxygen present in the
atmosphere. If all the planet's buried carbon combined with
all the atmospheric oxygen, the oxygen in the air would become carbon
dioxide and life could not exist, as we know it.
We have long known that carbon
combines with oxygen to become carbon
dioxide in the atmosphere
Ancient
plants separated out the oxygen in our atmosphere from Carbon.
The Planet, acting like an organism that was attracted to promoting the
survival of
life, buried the plants under mud and rock. Trapped there, the plant
material became coal and oil. The oxygen remained free in the
atmosphere to support respiration and life as we know it.
The way that we are socialized (read brainwashed) to think, sabotages
"Organism Earth." We learn to think our planet is dead. This mental
disaster removes the best
reason for us not to dig up and burn its long buried coal and oil. It
doesn't feel right. With empathy and morality, it doesn't
make
sense to purposely injure a living organism, Earth, the only one of its
kind.
Our "dead earth" thinking is the culprit that creates excessive
carbon
dioxide along with global warming and with most of our other disorders.
We get away with murder because dead things don't have rights to
life or feel pain.
Although the consequences are clear, we can't stop creating destructive
relationships,
even when we know it's wrong, even if we don't want to
continue. We are addicted to thinking in ways that reward us
to become destructively dependent on "raw materials" from our living
planet.
"Stupid
is as stupid does" noted Forrest Gump. Isn't it stupid for us to
continue to destroy the life of our life support system?
We exploit all of life, including human life, to
obtain resources and their rewards. They momentarily tranquilize the
disturbance in
our psyche caused by
our mental/emotional/spiritual disconnection from the balanced life support
offered by our living
Mother, Earth.
The disturbance of our psyche is
the true source of most recent extinctions, forest depletion,
pollution, abusiveness, greed, social injustice, violence, oil spills,
mental disorders, ad
nauseam. They will continue because we don't address their
source in our "dead earth thinking," Applied Ecopsychology, an enabling
remedy for distorted thinking,
is readily available.
To our cost, our addiction to satisfy ourselves with an
unsatisfying
love of money and materials generates never ending wants. It produces
many problems because we don't, instead, gain
satisfaction from
our
innate love for our
Mother Earth and her lasting love for us. Indeed, such a love
affair is considered illicit, fuzzy thinking, woo woo, freaky,
emotional,
environmentalism, even though it is our nature-inherent key to
survival. We can live and grow in balance by expressing, in mutually supportive ways, our inborn affection and gratitude for
our living Mother Earth.
Our greatest problem is that we label our destructive addiction for
money and materials as progress, as economic growth and
normalcy. We don't see this freaky addiction as an unreasonable bias
we hold against
the way that our living planet works to balance, nurture and heal all
of life, including its life and ours.
Like most addictions, our money-material bonding is an irrational
psychological attachment phenomenon that, like any addiction, we
seldom
recognize or address as such.
We are addicted to ignore that,
as portrayed in the film AVATAR,
most of our great personal, social and environmental problems result
from our unyielding, excessive attachment to harmful
materials and relationships that don't fullfill us. We are in
denial. We even deny
the value of Natural Attraction Ecology, an Ecopsychology art and
science of learning from natural areas how to
think and feel like
nature works in balance and beauty. We lose the lasting
fullfilment this
provides.
The ways of Earth and nature are our natural legacy. We inherit them
biologically and spiritually. However,
our misguided, story-made world makes us
into blivits who act as a conquering enemy of Earth and
nature. Our nature-disconnected stories religiously bury in our subconscious mind, our naturally balanced
thinking and feeling inheritance from earth.
There,
frustrated and demeaned, it simmers under pressure until some irritant
releases its
anger and hurt....just like a broken pipeline spurts out a
pressurized, life-destructive oil spill. Both of these
releases
emanate from the same nature-conquering addiction disorder. It biases
and distorts the way we
learn to think and feel about nature.
We have become delusional about
how to survive in a good way.
For the few of us who have
developed an immunity to our detrimental hallucination
about Mother Earth, the hidden source of it and
an Applied Ecopsychology online
program remedy for it are available in the article Increase Well-Being: Stop Our
Destructive Mass Hallucinatory Fantasy.
