THE UNITY IN MY NATURAL
COMMUNITY .
The base word in "unity"
is unite or come together. I realized quickly that coming together
in Nature is a constant. Sharing of resources in the wooded area
that I walked in while saying "unity" was all around
me. Trees provide cover for new plants to grow after they shed
their seedlings on the ground. Other trees and parts die and
provide fertile compost for a bed to grow and it goes on and
on.
I have come to see that the
statement about zero waste in Nature is true. Every part of Nature
has a role and part to play without being thrown out. I felt
that I too have a part in the unification with Nature. To me
it provides a sense of peace and well being and in turn I respect
Nature and try to understand my place and role. I learn from
Nature and try to conserve natural resources as it is supposed
to be. Nature must have human voices that will protect it in
a changing world and it is my opinion that this serves to unify
me with Nature.
Feelings of solace, inner peace
and community are good things that I experience with Nature as
it teaches me.
I have an Eskimo friend who
grew up "hunting" caribou and seal. He tells me stories
about sitting by the side of the caribou herd for hours, waiting,
until one caribou would leave the herd and present it to my friend
and his father to be killed. Same with the seal. In fact, the
scientists wired and measured his brain functions so that they
could discover how he could so quickly go into such a deep inner
state. When I asked him how he did indeed do that, he told me
this story about quickly and quietly linking his consciousness
with the animals to connect and find unity.
The person that I am closest
to is my wife. She possesses qualities that I feel are normal.
She has an undying love for animals and accepts them as they
are not as man wants them to be. I must admit that she thinks
in a four legged world more than I have. She would deny that
a fifth leg exists and dare anyone to challenge her common sense
approach to the facts. I am attracted to her for her uncomplicated
outlook on life. Her lack of material need and her desire to
do what is right when it comes to Nature brings her unity
I've discovered from this activity
that I would not be happy to be with another person that does
not have these qualities. I see that even without training, some
people have and display natural connections and are part of the
natural community. Certain people are by nature as much a part
of Nature as Nature is a part of them and as I learn from these
texts about deeper connections with Nature, I also learn to look
at other people and learn from them as well about their connections.
I would be very saddened to
loose these abilities that I have. As I go through this program
I know that no material assets are as unifying as my part in
the natural community.
