.
NOTE:This page offers valuable rewards to individuals who recognize four basics of Organic Psychology:
1. We are part of nature and it sustains the global life community without producing our garbage, disorders or abusiveness.
2. Natural systems pervade nature and are self-correcting. They recycle, purify and nurture wherever they flow.
3. We excessively suffer our disorders because we don't connect with nature's grace, balance and restorative powers to help us remedy our troubles.
4. We spend, on average, 98 percent of our life indoors, separated from nature. To our loss, our thinking and feeling are extremely disconnected from nature's healing ways.
NATURAL SYSTEMS: ASK AND YOU DO RECEIVE
An Organic Psychology Report from an Online Course Participant
It's been storming and raining every afternoon here for a week. The amount of rain is very unusual for us. We are all very grateful for the moisture. The storms have meant, though, that I haven't gotten out much to do this activity. Tonight was my last chance. I had planned on going to a beautiful waterfall after work, but while driving there, I could see it was already lightning and raining. I was disappointed as I was feeling really attracted to go there, but decided to turn around and head home.
It didn't appear to be raining yet in the direction of my house, so I decided I would again go to the National Forest that backs up to my property; this is the place I've been doing all of my activities thus far. Driving home, I was asking that I somehow be able to do this activity tonight. I was almost home, when I spotted two beautiful young bucks off the road in the trees, maybe 30 yards. I turned around and pulled off the side of the road, all the while, silently asking them permission to do this exercise with them. They stood perfectly still as I pulled over, got out of my car, and walked around to lean against it and watch. They were so beautiful! Big huge racks in velvet. I'm guessing they were two year olds. One was kind of hidden in the trees, and the other stood and looked right at me. Occasionally eating and looking up at me. Then I heard a diesel truck start up at the house nearby, and thought - Oh no! The truck came by, and the driver rolled down his window and yelled, "everything alright there?" - totally oblivious to what was there before us. I didn't say a word but just pointed to the deer, hoping he would shut up, but he proceeded in a loud voice - "yeah, my neighbor said he saw two bucks awhile ago - oh, yeah, there are two there - gorgeous creatures, aren't they" . . . as he drove away - and, of course, away bounded the deer . . .It felt to me as if we were in two totally different worlds, and it was startlingly clear to me what a little respect, consent, and permission can do. The deer stopped once and looked back at me, and then kept on going. I felt very angry at the man, even though on the surface, he was asking me if I needed any help.
I got home, and though the storm was coming in, I decided to go out near my house anyway. I found my way to a little circle of trees I've visited before. I asked permission to do the activity, and immediately the wind started to blow, but only on half of the circle. The trees on the other half seemed to not be giving their full consent. So I moved on. I all of a sudden found myself stopping, and to my right noticed these two small pine trees, maybe a foot taller than me. They just looked so pretty to me. So I asked for their consent, and got the feeling that they wanted me to come closer. So I did. I found that their needles were very soft. They were a beautiful dark green - the color really grabbed my attention. I began to stroke them, as if I was playing with their hair. Having someone play with my hair has always felt like an intimate, sensate-full experience. It felt as if the trees felt the same way. There were some dead pine needles from the tall tree above them on their branches, and I began removing them. It felt like I was grooming them. They seem delighted that I noticed and cared for them. I thanked them and gave them a piece of my hair in gratitude.
I discovered that discomfort signals that something we are doing is out of balance, some other natural attraction senses need to come into play, reconnect us, and provide us with satisfaction and that you risk getting hurt when you choose to let negatives attract you.I liked the old brain/new brain information. In the trauma work that I do, we learn to access trauma in the body by communicating with the old brain, which understands a different language - one of sensations rather than words. It's the one that has all the stored information of the trauma that occurred and knows where to access it in the body. It was very cool to now understand it from this perspective and link the two together. Validates more Truth for me.
And my trust was increased - I mean, the deer didn't run away from me - I felt honored that they stayed, granted their consent, and were not afraid of me.
The activity helped me remember that respect, consent, permission is of utmost importance in human to human relationships too...the key to building a stable, balanced community
I learned that the value of exercising my responsibility in gaining consent far outweighs the time it takes to do it - I think many times I don't do it because I'm in a hurry or have an agenda - makes me less conscious of what's around me - perhaps like the man in the truck.....follow your attraction, ask permission, gain consent, respect all beings, that's the rule because respect and consent are very real and really make a difference. Old brain is very intelligent - not primitive at all. Ask, and you really do receive.

"Human behavior is rooted most deeply in nature's intentions and desire. The rhythms of nature underlie all of human interaction: religious traditions, economic systems, cultural and political organization. When these human forms betray the natural psychic pulse, people and societies get sick, nature is exploited and entire species are threatened."
-Stephen Aizenstat
In industrial society our excessively nature-separated lives mold us to betray the natural psychic pulse. We learn to block from our thinking over 98 percent of the wise sensory callings and fulfillments we normally receive from natural systems and their eons of experience. Our subconscious hurt and frustration from the severed disconnection of these senses underlies our greatest troubles.-Michael J. Cohen
