A partial subject list is located at the bottom of this page.
Internet Social Networking for PNC students including the Work/Study financial assistance tuition program. Introduction This introduction and step-process is intended to help interested individuals participate in the sustainability of the Institute of Global Education and Project NatureConnect through an Internet Social Networking Work/Study Program. The public education program offers people a means to support the participation of additional PNC students and compensate for tuition financial assistance they may receive in their certificate or degree program. It also empowers the advanced-thinking individuals who recognize the value of educating and counseling and healing with nature. As a student or graduate, you become knowledgeable about Natural Attraction Ecology, a root of the emerging field of Applied Ecopsychology and Integrated Ecology that uses the Natural Systems Thinking Process (NSTP). Your first-hand experiences in this process are the best means to communicate and express your nature-connected learning experiences with other potentially interested people, both in person and through the internet. By establishing an internet social networking communication system of your own and posting at least one or more of your unique nature contact experiences per week, from coursework, or ongoing lifestyle pathways, you can link your unique experiences to large groups of people who may also be interested in this educational process, but do not yet know of it. You may need to edit your post somewhat for a general audience (for example, you may replace technical terms with a brief general description.) This is part of your training because editing to the general public helps you develop a language bridge and a greater understanding of natural connections with people. An example of a course activity response might be: "On
a course I'm taking in nature-connected personal growth
(www.ecopsych.com) I
discovered that sensory contact with natural areas through connective
activities makes me feel better about myself. When I enter into those
experiences I am better able to sort out what makes sense to me, and
what doesn't, about my everyday life. When I am confused I go to
Nature and, somehow, I am better able to get a sense of the truth in a
situation. That confirms that I am a real part of an ongoing
process, the process of life. The feelings I recall from my youth come
from my innate, inborn abilities. I didn't have to learn them from a
book or be taught how to experience them. I feel them from my core. I
was granted those abilities by the Source of Life."
Public education helps you validate and value your inherent being through participation in a diverse web of natural and cross-cultural pathways. You become a truly global citizen. All of the below-suggested networks, blogs, website hosts, applications, and professional profiles are free and require very little attention or time on your part. They are relatively simple to set up. You may wish to add and link to them other social networks that you have already established, or add new ones as time goes along. The suggested list and process presented here has, in my experience, been the most user friendly and simplest linking combination that I have found. The benefit is Google Reader. It allows you to post, link, share, and read, all in one place. By doing this, each of you can increase "Webstring" connections through the various keywords used in your posts. Please refer/link your connections to http://www.ecopsych.com. This is because Google picks them up on in its search engine. For example, Google "ecological belonging" or "Nature-Connected Learning." Scroll down to see its connections with <http://www.naturalattractionecology.com/> and an article I wrote recently. "Ecological Belonging" has been number eight, on the list of that Google search page, for some time now. In addition, you can add key linking words called "Labels", in a box at the end of your posting window on Blogger. All of this helps US communicate with nature and its restorative grace in others, and allow them to decide on their own educational pathways to personal, social and environmental well-being. Thank you for your consideration of this public education program. You may arrange this, in writing, with Dr. Cohen. Please apply this material to Facebook and other social networks of your choice, too. Setup and Step Process for Internet Social Networking 1. Download Google Chrome and create your "igoogle" page and Gmail account. Google Chrome is at: <http://www.google.com/chrome>. Save your Gmail address, username, and password in a safe place. 2. Add Google Reader to your igoogle page by clicking the „add stuff‰ link. You can take the tour of Reader and better understand this tool at: <http://www.google.com/help/reader/tour.html> --Establish your personal Google Profile for Reader. Here is mine for an example: <http://www.google.com/profiles/118318101911463885147?hl=en> After you create your Google Profile, go back to your Reader main page and click onto "Your Stuff" in the left menu. A picture of you and a link to "View your Profile" will be there in summary, as well as the Google Blogger and Twitter links (and any others you add). Adding these links is in step 3. You can edit, add, or remove information in your Profile by clicking "edit profile". 3. (A) Setup your Google Blog at: <https://www.blogger.com/start> NOTE: You can use your same username and password as your Google Account. (B) Setup your Twitter Account at: <http://twitter.com/> and save your username and password in a safe place. ( C ) Optionally, you may want to create a Linkedin professional profile at: <http://www.linkedin.com/home?trk=lab_home> Linkedin is the most respected professional profile network internationally, and it's FREE. You may also want to create a FREE website just Google "Google Sites" or click on it in you igoogle page. 4. Link all URL's of social networks that you've created, and your website, to Google Reader. Add any blogs, etc. to Reader by using the "Add Subcription" tool at the top of the Reader menu. These will then appear in the "Subcriptions" section of your Reader page. You can read, follow, post, and link, all from Reader, or optionally post on Blogger or Twitter and see these in Reader later. You can also "Share" your posts with a whole list of folks, that you select, in Reader. 5. One other helpful thing to do is add your google blog, and Linkedin, etc. profiles to your email signature (my example is below). This way, every time you send or reply to an email, you open the potential for another connection. Thank you for considering this alternative as a way to contribute to the sustainability of PNC. Keep following Natural Attractions! Act
