Homepage                                                                                 HOW I HEAL MY WOUNDS AND RELATIONSHIPS An Organic Psychology Report from an Online Course Participant Kirk and I were asked to teach Organic Psychology to a group of high school students. The students were with us and were engaged in learning. We took them outside and had them take digital photos of things that demonstrated sensory experiences planning to bring in the 53 senses next class. Sadly, (and this is where one person can make a difference for good or ill) one of the students who (it turned out had a crush on the other science teacher and wanted him to teach the class) went home and complained to her mother that we were teaching weird things -like we had 53 senses, and that animals communicate in ways we do not. Who knows what she said. So here we have 34 students engaged and most enjoying what they were learning with no complaints to the principal (this was unique because complaints are common when changes are made) and one student who wanted the traditional earth science text book. We had agreed to teach what we knew that we felt could make a difference. To make a long story short, we decided that we would not teach something we were not originally asked to teach. We didn't have a natural attraction nor felt we wanted to do so. Sadly, several students have remarked as they have seen me, "Why did you leave?" "We were finally enjoying and getting something we could live in our lives?" This one parent, not even knowing first hand what we were teaching affected the administration to the point where we would have had to leave anything out of value -i.e. learning how to ask permission of a natural area to visit it, how to discover and use 53 natural senses in our thinking and relating. To make this happen for those who want it to happen will be an important learning experience for us. The statistics that are out there revealing how much some of our children in this country have difficulty being outside or just don't even bother is always shocking to me. That is how I know that the work I am preparing myself for is what I need to do right now. I love to study and implement nature-based therapeutic methods for children. I know that the earth does not have much longer left in her as far as being hospitable for humans and other beings. I am here to help the earth reach out to the human family and bring humanity back into symbiotic relationship with the planet. This work of course starts with me and how I heal my wounds and relationships with the earth and her inhabitants. REPLY: Charlene, thanks for sharing your story of how you are disrupting authorities by living your truth and showing others. This is inspirational to me. Interesting too... a rural, alternative school 10 min outside our town of 1200 may be shut down because of the lack of numbers. Many of us who want an alternative school for our children have been supporting their last few weeks of struggles. But if they don't get more enrollment (the school district) is asking double of what they normally have... they will be closing it. Martin and I saw this as an option instead of home-schooling or creating a cooperative, which is done selfishly for me because I'm not attracted to the bureaucracy in this situation. Now we may have to look at creating an alternative because the town schools are not what a lot of us want. I understand more and more that money doesn't always have to look like dollars and cents... and that maybe there is an alternative way. Act now. Master Organic Psychology by doing it.
