Connecting to Love Organically
A Course Participant's Report:
As I thought back to problems in my past, I think about my first experience of life. Being the 5th child in 10 years time, I often felt that there was a lack of love for me. I was raised in a very conservative religion that believes they have "the only way. I remember feeling very invisible in large groups of children where girls were definitely second to boys. Then, when I was 4, I had a very traumatic experience with a dentist who physically held me down, lying on top of me as I struggled, to work on my teeth. When the ordeal was over, I remember being in my mother,s arms as he handed me a pencil as a present. My mother was very displeased that I had behaved badly as this man was a close family friend and member in the same church. The message: You are second class and must always do as men tell you to do. This set me up for a life of hurt and pain. I had lost my sense of power over myself; my sense of support from my mother; I felt engulfed by a system that I instinctually I did not trust, but lost my ability to trust that instinct. Something must be terribly wrong with me.
At this point, I was fortunate enough to find a psychologically organic sensory relationship group workshop that helped me to work through issues and begin to love and accept myself again. I found a supportive group of people who understood and non-judgmentally accepted me as a valuable natural being. It was through this group that I found the pathway to schools that use the environment and natural world as part of the healing process. I was finally reintroduced to my "inner child" whom I now recognize as the long lost connections of my psyche to nature's supportive grace, beauty and regenerative powers.
Thus, as I now look back at my life, my struggles and the challenges I faced later on, I can clearly see how this was due to losing my natural connections to natural senses, sensitivities and ways of knowing. Through this rediscover, I now am in a healthy, loving relationship with a man who also knows the importance of nature in responsibly maintaining health, food and the environment. I was able to improve my relationship with my mother and eventually come to the realization that she did indeed love me, though she suffered greatly due to her own disconnections. I am forever grateful.
Through organic psychology I've learned that disturbances in life are directly connected to severed connections with natural systems around and within us and the way to health is by consciously reconnecting to the natural world through our 53 natural senses. I've discovered I am a person who finds peace of mind by immersing myself in nature and the more I connect to it, the better able I am to connect to those I love.
