An Organic Psychology Report from a Course Clergy Participant
I was settling into spending time with a couple of trees in a park but did not feel comfortable. So I moved my vision to the neighboring tree. I was attracted to the color of the autumn leaves at the top of the tree. It was an orange hue, a color that I like and feel good with. But I was still not fully comfortable and the swaying of a tree a little further away caught my attention. I stayed with it and felt comfortable.
The swaying tree seemed to be beckoning in joy. It gave the feeling of aliveness and energy, the dynamism of life seeming to flow through the branches and leaves. I felt connected and thanked the tree for accepting and welcoming me. I stayed with it a few minutes. There were no birds flying around but I could hear them singing and chirping clearly and brightly out of sight. There was life around.
I then noticed the leaves of another neighboring tree. The movement of the leaves in the wind was different and seemed to move more independently of the branches than the other tree. There was a greater feeling or sense of dynamism.
I stayed with the trees for 10 minutes and the longer I was staying with them the deeper my feeling of connection but also a more profound feeling of the depths within me. I also felt my own limitedness and that I need to be part of the whole and the whole cannot be composed only of mainly myself but of a diversity of many things connected together. I can feel oneness but in my limitedness, I cannot hold everything within my consciousness or embrace. Only the whole and God can embrace everything and I am part of the whole. In my limitedness, however, I can be one with the whole. Thank you trees, leave, branches, wind, movement, energy, color, life, sight, sound, motion, peace, appreciation, companionship, trust, empathy, peace, beauty and consciousness.
It seems that I have a special affinity with trees these days. I later connected with a tree in a park and felt good with mutual acceptance. I stayed with the tree after I felt I gained acceptance. I wrote
"I like this tree because it is alive and welcoming."
Then I wrote about myself:
"I like myself because I am alive and welcoming."
At first I was not sure of myself or what the outcome would be in juxtaposing "alive and welcoming" but staying with both webstrings for a while, I felt comfortable with the statement for myself. It also helped me to more deeply feel that I am alive and basically welcoming of others, of nature, and of God.
The exercise helped me to further experience the deep underlying connection and similarity of myself with this tree and nature as a whole. It was in wonder that I went this experience.
This course gives me a chance to do some practical continuous activities, find my natural system sensory attractions and empower them by the blessing of Nature. Its system and process in which some key facts are repeated in the chapters guide us to trust more and more the inspiring natural energies inside ourselves and in Nature. Also it encourages us to share our knowledge, experiences and activities with the others. That creates a large increasing group of the people who have common ideas, feelings and beliefs and they can support each other and Nature as well. Being available to each other and reading each others posts id a useful method of learning more from each other and the course. I especially like that we represent a great geographic vast area, cultural areas, and of course help each other endure political unrest wherever we are.
