For this reason, over the past decade the book's applied ecopsychology has become a learning model, a sensory ecological applied science known as Organic Psychology and/or the Natural Systems Thinking Process. Along with a new cover, to the book's 2007 reprint has been added an appendix that updates the organic application of its contents.
The Natural Systems Thinking Process teaches our psyche how to increase personal and global well-being by enlisting the grace, balance and restorative powers of natural systems within and about us. The science of this sensory way of relating helps us establish mutually supportive relationships with people and places. It enables us to develop attachment bonds to natural systems that we hold in common and that support us as we support them. This appendix demonstrates how we increase our well-being at every level by increasing our global integrity.Organic Psychology gives our thinking and feeling the sensory tools they need to interlace with their origins in nature. This restores the nurturing flow of natural systems through our mentality whose quest, historically, to our loss, has been to excessively conquer or exploit these systems.
Organic Psychology empowers us to cooperate with nature. We benefit by learning how to invite natural systems to compost and transform into fertile thoughts the trash that industrial society has dumped into our psyche. Nature finds our invitation attractive because it is attracted to transformation for the betterment of all. That is how nature works and why it produces no garbage.
Organic Psychology addresses Natural System Dysfunction, a disorder that prevents us from consciously and naturally registering over 45 different sensory signals from natural systems within and around us. It operates from a scientific model that enhances the art of educating, counseling and healing with nature.
