An Organic Psychology Response from an Online Course Participant
Oh dear mother, mother of us all thank you for your gifts
Where other mothers fall, they fall to grace the presence of a man,
They know not what to do, but hold silent all they do,
They temper their care, their willingness to learn,
To listen to the crashes and foibles that life holds for us all,
They turn their heads in shame trying not to see,
All the pains of life that in their child's life came to be,
The pains of their hearts, the aches of wounded knees,
Trying not to nurture what it is we are all to be,
Breathing living beings, that embrace the perils of all of life,
Along with all the joys, the pain and the strife,
Embroidered in their lives these mothers try to be,
All that they can from where they came to see,
Only knowing what they have seen, and felt,
The scolding ways and sting of a belt,
Tears left to dry alone,
Hiding in the shadow of their own,
The aches of their hearts hidden by the busyness of days,
Had they only grown to know your ways,
Each fall broken by soft and giving earth,
Not caring at all for the immenseness of your girth,
Only the larger with which to embrace,
All the pains of life each child comes to face,
Your rains come to fall and rinse the tears away,
And each morning the sun comes to kiss us all, near and far the same,
Your love is always there, no matter what we do,
Why is it other mothers have no clue?
Thank you mother earth, mother of us all,
For each time I hurt I could turn to you,
When no one else would listen,
And no one knew my pain,
You loved me and embraced me and gave me no shame,
At times I was punished when I sought you out,
But each beating and restriction only made me more devout,
I was never bad, less than, or made to feel I had to compete,
To me no other love could be more complete,
From the smell of your perfume in the early spring,
To your beautiful colors each and every fall,
To the white dress you wear in winter,
And summers sweet and tasty fruit,
Each and every season you are always there,
With gifts and abiding love for each one and all,
Thank you dear mother earth, dear mother of us all,
For picking up the broken pieces of each and every being,
For being who you are when other mothers could not stand tall,
They were being broken, and they didn't know of you,
Because for so long all of mankind has hidden you from view,
Teaching blindness and that ignorance is bliss,
And that the devil holds your kiss,
That to love you and to know you was such a sin,
All the other fallen mothers weren't allowed to know you true,
But I didn't listen and breathed you in,
I loved you and told you all my secrets, pains and joys,
And when I became a mother too,
I brought you a little girl and boy,
So when I failed and fell like all other mothers do,
They could find their hearts and be loved by you.
Oh thank you mother, mother of us all,
For taking care of me and my children too.
