Homepage                                                                 I INTEND TO BRING THIS WORK INTO MY COMMUNITY An Organic Psychology Report from an Online Course Participant Last year on my birthday I went for a walk in a local area with my estranged husband. We were in a difficult and challenging place of separating and moving on into separate lives while still holding the responsibility of raising two children. The natural area where we were walking wasn't one I was familiar with, but as soon as we were on a trail, I got this sense that there was nowhere else to be. I wasn't at the time asking for conscious consent from the area to visit it, but I think some natural spirit part of me then knew how to do that. I was never, until this course, taught to ask permission to relate to people or the environment. I just took that for granted if I loved a natural place. The colors, sounds, smells, and feelings of well-being in this natural are were strong and led me down a series of paths as if I knew where I was going. My husband was in a complimentary place and we seemed to be joined by invisible spirit strings as we walked hip to hip with no verbal communication. I practiced the Organic Psychology web of life model based reasoning, a non-verbal experience consisting of direct relationship-not words, stories, images. I think that we should let go of our disconnected stories for a little while. I have experiences like this all the time when I am out walking by myself, but it was especially powerful to experience the absence of story at that particular time with that particular person. I felt like the world welcomed us and nurtured us and we found a healing that has taken us through the changes we've experienced more gracefully then if we hadn't consciously registered that connection. We got down to a lake and a dragonfly hovered in front of me. I was empty inside and could fill myself with the essence of that dragonfly. It was a profound experience and I try to repeat it as deeply wherever I am today. I find that attractive natural relationships produce no garbage or pollution. I have had relationships that have had by-products, not to mention that bag of trash I take to the dump each month. What if I learned to live with no garbage? This is very exciting to me and something I want to strive for. Once found, it cannot be taken away-but it makes me sad and frustrated that the way we live and teach our children doesn't honor nature's unifying ways. It makes me want to do something about this. I feel very trusting of every interaction I have in nature and I am consciously trying to make this connection moment by moment. This activity educated me to the power of story and when we are holding tightly to our stories or perspective-we miss what is really happening in the world. I did the activity and it helped me produce a mission statement of intent that I can carry forward into this work. I have, in the process of reflecting on a past experience with nature, made connections how holding on to a story can get you stuck in one way of relating, and how by dropping the story, we can open to connecting in the moment in ways that astound and amaze us. I have my innate connections with the sensory strings of the web of life. They are something I already know and have felt the healing power of-now I need to consciously bring them into my interactions moment by moment.
