MIMBRES ARTWORK HELPS
ME ACCESS MY REAL SELF
I walked out to the lake at
the mountain house we were renting where the Canadian Geese were
lolling around in the water with their 2 adolescent chicks. My
2 dogs went with me. I held in mind the Mimbres artwork as I
allowed myself to see what attracted me. I really wanted to "connect"
to the Goose family with my "family". But how, I thought,
with these two dogs?
I sat down and allowed myself
to just enjoy all webstrings present-the sun shining on the water,
the gentle breeze blowing across the water, the clear water,
so clear you could see some activity in the mud, as if they were
enjoying the sun...
Holding in mind the Mimbes
artwork I pondered the Geese's emotional state--calm, quiet,
and serene. I noticed my own inner state was one of pushing to
make the connection happen, a kind of agitated feeling in my
chest. The geese were slowly headed away from me, while the chicks
were reluctantly following.
The Mimbres artwork then came
more clearly in focus in a certain kind of way, and I realized
I could mirror the Geese's interior feelings. Calling on calmness
and peacefulness inside me, I encouraged my dogs to lie down
and be still, and gently stroked them so they, too, would become
calmer inside. The geese stopped in the water, slowly turned
around, treaded water for a few minutes, and then slowly headed
back toward us all. They kept a certain distance while treading
water, but we were all there together, as if we knew we could
just enjoy this connection at this distance, feeling calm, and
peaceful together. Joy rose in my chest, and those few moments
seemed like timeless eternity (eternity IS timeless, sorry :-)).
There was a palpable presence, or "webstrings a flowin'"
between us all. It was an amazing experience that the Mimbres
artwork helped me achieve.
I feel I have been fortunate
to find professional training that has helped me realize how
to access my real Self-that real Self holding qualities of calmness,
courage, confidence, joy, creativity, compassion, etc. This course,
and this particular Mimbres artwork have helped me achieve that
inner state in a much shorter time (9 weeks vs. 3 years). And
that I have been in and connected to nature while learning more
about my real self has helped me broaden and deepened not only
my sense of Self, but a sense of purpose for my life.
Being in indoor environments
in an unbalanced way can alter your perspective in unhealthy
ways, nature seems a scary and hostile place when we don't spend
much time outdoors, nature connected artwork can enhance nature
experiences, and help one achieve a state of Self as described
in the qualities listed above.
I feel the webstring activity
opened me up to a new avenue of finding Self-energy which is
in itself a webstring to nature. I would be depressed if it were
taken away.
The activity re-educated my
Self in terms of how to use the Self to connect to nature--not
wait for nature to work on me, for me to have an active way I
can connect, if I'm making sense...
I was attracted to what Tamlin
said about how her first interpretation of what was happening
might not be what was happening at all, and when she stayed with
the experience how it unfolded as a teaching to her. I liked
what Dan said in so many words about how nature reflected his
Self (I'm hoping you are believing it more, now, Dan). And felt
good about to what Sheri said about forgetting who she is not
in "roles and shoulds" and seeing her Self reflected
in nature as well.
I see that when I access my
Self I can access connections with the natural world. I have
put inside my heart a trustable, uncontaminated, feeling room
space the knowingness of how to access my real Self that is connected
to the natural world, and this allows me to experience natural
world in the present moment of timelessness.
