.SYNOPSIS: As demonstrated in Educating Counseling and Healing With Nature by M. J. Cohen, we know that natural attractions hold
the the web of life together and make it work, for without them, things,
including our planet and its life, would fall apart and they don't. Our greatest challenge is that we learn to avoid or demean the natural attractions found in the callings of our planet's natural systems. These attractions ordinarily register in our psyche as 53 natural senses and feelings that guide us continuously. As we learn to consciously sense and feel them we benefit from their intelligence. We enjoy them as part of our good experiences in nature and good feelings with each other as natural parts of the global life community. This Natural Attraction Ecology (NAE) report describes a funded Mother Earth sensory science in action. NAE includes an Organic Psychology tool that helps us improve health wellness and counseling by enabling our thinking and feeling to safely tap into the nature's grace, balance and restorative natural attraction powers. Participants benefit from pain relief and strengthen their inborn love of nature as they master alternative therapist coaching, stress release management and holistic spiritual psychology. NAE PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Educating Counseling and Healing With Nature Supportive Degrees, Career Training Courses and Jobs On Line Project NatureConnect offers nature-centered distant learning that enables you to add the benefits of nature-connecting methods and credentials to your degree program and/or your skills, interests and hobbies. ARTICLE: Natural Attraction Ecology: found, the missing component for increasing personal, social and environmental well being. How to prevent global warming and destructive climate change. Michael J. Cohen, Ph.D. Have you ever had a good experience in nature? Did you ever think that its enchanting feelings of grandeur, belonging and well being are also part of our psyche, the natural spirit in us, the essence of who we really are and were naturally born to be? Those that have recognized this often also recognize that the dictates of Industrial Society are not in balance with our natural selves or the natural world. It helps them realize the massive disconnection of our daily lives from nature has stressed and deteriorated us along with most of life as we know it in our society and on our planet. The deteriorating state of the world says that the time has come for each of us to make a significant contribution to increasing personal, social and environmental well being. To this end, the nature-connecting science of Natural Attraction Ecology (NAE) provides us with a powerful enabling tool. Unknown to ourselves, many of us cause and endure our wide range of disorders due to a missing natural component in how we learn to think. This missing component is readily available. We unnecessarily suffer simply because we don't use it. NAE helps us incorporate it in our personal and professional lives and reap the rewards it offers us. Our excessive troubles arise because Industrial Society seldom admits that it contains a misguided prejudice against nature. Society programs us to believe that we are a superior form of life. Even though we can see and feel the destructive results from this distortion, we continue to learn and teach that with respect to living in a good way, our intelligence knows how to think and relate better than nature works. For too long we have been stalled on stupid. What we usually train our thinking to to omit is that humanity is an intricate part of the global ecosystem, the self-correcting web of life community that flows in, through and around us and all things. That's why we can naturally have powerful sensory experiences in nature. We are also trained to disregard that to be part of any system, including the global ecosystem, we have to be in communication with that system, and vice versa. Otherwise we blindly trespass the system and it trespasses us. As part of the global life system, it is impossible that our psyche and intelligence don't biologically inherit the means to communicate with the system and vice versa. Our unsolvable problems arise because we learn to ignore this important fact. By ignoring it, we detrimentally injure and disrupt nature as it operates in the perfection of its peaceful balance in and around us. We lose the gift of how the web of life can help us find peaceful balance for ourselves as part of it. NAE helps us reverse this hurtful disconnection. It enables us to sentientl intercommunicate with natural systems in and around us and thereby produce the well being that we seek for our planet and humanity. Natural attractions are what hold the the web of life together and make it work. Without them, life, including Earth, would fall apart. Our greatest challenge is that we learn to avoid or demean the natural attraction wisdom found in the many sensory callings of our planet, callings that touch us continuously, callings we sense as part of our good experiences in nature. These sensations and feelings are the attraction communications of natural systems that we hold in common with the web of life and each other. For example, one of these callings is the natural sense/sensation of thirst. In balanced ways it includes us in the planet's water cycle. Like a wise guidance system, it intelligently turns on and attracts water into us when we need it and it intelligently turns off when we have enough water for our health. In addition, another natural sense, the sense of excretion signals our thinking that it is attractive for us to return our water and waste products to the global life system to nurture other members of the web of life. These sensory processes that we register are nature's harmonic balance in action. Many problems arise because we don't even include the sensations of thirst and excretion as two of the five senses that we say we inherit in order to know, learn about and relate to the world. There are, in addition, a minimum of 51 additional natural senses/sensations that are our communion with the web of life and each other, senses like smell, gravity, motion, trust, place and community. Each natural sense operates and contributes to well-being in the same wise and balanced way as do thirst and excretion. However, we learn to think and relate using less than eight of our natural senses. We suffer our destructive non-sense relationships and dysfunctions because, with respect to well being, we senselessly think insensitively. We omit 85 percent of our natural sensibility. Our 53 natural attraction senses are the means we inherit to consciously register, relate and participate in mutually supportive balance with the web of life. Each sense helps us make more sense of our personal and professional lives. Each helps us recognize that the web of life is the major revitalizing source for the well-being of all of life on Earth and that this includes the well being of the life of our mind, body and spirit. Each natural sense helps us see how and why Earth's web of life does not produce our garbage, pollution, excesses or abusiveness. Our good experiences in nature demonstrate that our psyche benefits from direct conscious sensory contact with nature's attractive grace and restorative powers. NAE gives us a practical remedy for our unstoppable destructive ways. In natural areas, backyard or backcountry, its nature-connected thinking process, and the activities that it offers, help us create purifying sensory moments in natural areas. Each of these moments gives Earth the opportunity to teach us what we need to know to come into balance with it and ourselves and increase well being. This nature-connecting sensory science enables us to reduce our disorders by thinking with, not against, the healing and regenerative ways of natural systems, in and about us. On average, over 98 percent of our time and thinking in Industrial Society is separated from nature. This astounding loss of cooperative contact with the rewarding ways of the web of life unbalances our psyche. It makes us want and when we want there is never enough. Our stressful excessiveness, greed and disorders result. We realistically sense and feel that some sensible essential is missing in our lives. To our benefit, NAE helps us discover and enjoy this attractive missing element by enabling us to make friendly contact with nature's fountainhead of knowledge in natural areas. This reverses our troublesome prejudice against nature for we are seldom prejudiced against friends that help support our lives.
