ARTICLE: FIELD REPORT: an on line program participant, shares her results from a nature-connecting activity. A SELF-ACCEPTANCE PARADIGM: BECOMING A NATURE-CONNECTED ANIMAL AND PROPERTY CARETAKER My husband and I went for a long walk with the two doggies. We walked along a man-made lake. Fishermen and cars have abused the flora around it. A local nature trust has been given animal caretaking duties over the area now. They have set up barriers so that cars are unable to enter, and smaller fencing around delicate natural spots. They've left the rejuvenation up to nature. Nature, given the chance, has flourished. Wild herbs, weeds and other plants were thriving As were shrub nesting birds, lizards and rabbits. It was a joy to walk through a once quite barren area. I asked permission of a mass community of bluebells and was warmly accepted with a cautionary note. I stepped around them rather than enter into their space. The bluebells almost shone with Love. My old brain knew this Love; my new brain relearned it. In their thriving life, I was given the joy of beauty and love. I was reminded that given the chance nature and people can thrive in their authenticity. That when we push and pull our environment and each other, to conform to our selfish needs, we stifle it/them as well as ourselves. The chance for Love and joy is trampled upon. But that with understanding, compassion, nurturing, and simply the space to be, we thrive as property caretakers. I learnt that nature is in a constant state of life - that it is non-love that halts her growth. I know that given the space to be totally me, I can thrive as an individual and social being. That if I give others the same space, I nurture a community of Love. Hi Marie, Your experience sings to me, loving bluebells shining out to you! What a lovely vision. your statement resonates with my own feelings, inner knowing, old brain understanding. As I think of it so many of us stop growing because of unloving. Think of children that fail to thrive because of isolation, neglect or lack of self-acceptance. How can anyone do this? How can anyone just not think that a bluebell needs love, or a bird or the trees need love? It seems so simple yet so profound. I was attracted to the idea that the reconnecting with nature process is a new brain story, a paradigm acceptance that says it is reasonable to participate in the process of tapping into nature's balanced intelligence. Well, my activity was a little different. I have been extremely busy this past five days, and I am now sitting at the airport about to take off for Montreal and New York where I will be over the next two weeks. I did not have time to look at Appendix C until arriving at the gate (I am here over an hour early so this works!), so I decided I would connect to my environment here. There is a beautiful waterfall next to the gate, and a wall of British Columbia natural stone. I also thought I would connect with other people, since they are the most natural source I have here outside of the stone and water. While reading the 53 senses, I either experienced them here while observing people or the stones and waterfall, or re-experienced memories of other nature activities that did involve these senses. Last week, the idea that many of these senses were senses seemed foreign. Now as I go through the list, I see that I have used most of these my whole life but just didn't know that they were a sense. I know and feel that these activities are deepening my sense of my senses! I know I am experiencing my sensitivities more often than I use to be, and it is wonderful to have this heightened awareness of all my senses. I feel more in tune, more present, more aware of my surroundings and others. I am very grateful for all this and future courses will awake in me. I know my nature connections continue to strengthen, that I am a person who gets good feelings by applying my new brain intelligence to my old brain nature experiences. This activity enhances my sense of self-worth and trustfulness of Nature's intelligent essence. I see that as one becomes more comfortable and aware of all their natural senses, there follows a complete sense of acceptance that all is as it should be. Act
now.
