Homepage                                                                       EVERY MEMBER IS NATURALLY APPRECIATED An Organic Psychology Report from an Online Course Participant For the last couple of weeks I have been feeling a general disconnect - a lot of monkey mind chatter tempting me to engage - putting me back into old patterns that I have been shedding - smoking too much, procrastinating the important things, doing a minimal amount to stay afloat, etc. Part of this brought me another cold - which I finally had to succumb. Finally, on Wednesday I allowed myself to get out into nature and connect - this connection came in a different way than usual. A friend of mine decided to do a day trip to Ithaca - one of the most beautiful areas of nature, and I could feel my natural senses were eagerly awaiting the satisfactions of connecting to natural areas. But, my experience did not happen in one of these areas - it happened in a truck junk yard. My friend and I are both photographers and as we were driving to our destination we drove by a place of discard - it attracted both of us to stop and check it out. Initially I thought I was there to take pictures - to find the beauty through my camera. As I walked around this area I naturally began to feel very familiar, attracted first to an abandoned stove - rusting away. Upon closer inspection a realization came to me of these discard pieces of living - a feeling that though no longer being used in the way intended that there was more life to these objects - the elements to the stove lay in array on top of the stove like sweet flowers left for someone to pick them and see the beauty that still held - the burners inter-twined creating a framework for these flowers. As I stood there my friend came over and immediately connected with the beauty of these as well, we looked at each other and knew that we were being shown new life - a transformation of beauty of a discarded part of life that was once elemental to providing nourishment of the body, now was providing nourishment to the soul - allowing us to view it in a different aspect. Our natural senses told us that we could take these wonderful pieces of beauty and art with us to enjoy at our homes and in our gardens - they wanted to be connected to other places of beauty. As I moved on and continued to follow the attractions of this place I was lead to a discard truck - actually a part of truck and a whole one. The pieces of the truck where from an old 50's type truck leading to the transformation to an newer truck - then to the side was a stack of tires seeming to lead to a gateway into another place - a seeming gateway. This gateway lead me to an old cement mixer that spoke to me of the need to mix things up - to blend life experiences to create a new flow - another way of seeing our life experiences. The rusted exterior still held together in the hope of once again being used to bring a rich blend of ingredients together. Upon a closer inspection, the rusted portions and still peeling paint revealed beautiful landscapes of color and texture - blending together in a new way. As I was leaving this area to go back to my car - I was stopped by a door hidden in the weeds - reminding me that even though there may be weeds grown in front of the doors - we can step through them and open the door - to new experiences, to new or different ways of being. I must admit that a lot of this came to me as I reflected back on the experience and reconnected in an energetic way. At the time, I was so engrossed in the amazing beauty of these discarded objects to my esthetic natural senses - that the underlying messages took some time to come. I did thank all these objects and place for providing me with the opportunity to see the beauty and transformation that can be had from the "discards" of life. As I write and realize the poignant message in this for me, I see that even though I have discarded some natural parts of my life that no longer seem to fit or are no longer useful in the original way, they are becoming transformed to serve me now, if I allow these transformations.
