An Organic Psychology Report from a New Mexico Course Participant
It was late at night-about 11 p.m. No people around. I went to a familiar neighborhood area, greeted everything and gained permission to share learning and respiration; allowed myself to walk down the middle of the street and be "led." I turned onto a street without consciously knowing I was on a side street; was attracted to a shrub a little higher than waist level, about a foot off the sidewalk. It was roundish, not too manicured, with leathery, elliptical, deep-green leaves; no flowers; stickery slight branches. I asked if I could hold a branch filled with leaves; felt consent. I felt self-conscious that I was standing on the sidewalk holding hands with a shrub-on a "stranger's property! Nevertheless, I got into the exercise-iiiiiin-haled, then held my breath as long as I could, then reeeeee-leased.
After a few times, as I let myself concentrate only on the plant with eyes closed at first, feeling the chill of evening, I could feel strongly a strange sensation that the plant's leaves were extending from the tips into the space around and through me. I opened my eyes and SAW silvery, straight lines, like fine laser beams, projecting from the tips of the leaves out into the space around-and more fascinatingly--THROUGH me, as if the plant were growing into the future-- beyond now. Or was it connecting in the now? As I type this I am filled with a teary feeling of excitement recalling my surprise at this experience.
I left as I've occasionally left the space of a person who has overwhelmed me with an energy I cannot describe. So I walked back down the middle of the street, perceiving these familiar trees and shrubs differently in a subtle way. They seemed to have a deeper meaning for me. I've hungered to be in the mountains or near the sea, yet perhaps my work is continuing here with familiar plant and rock life. I breathed deeply in and out while walking, thinking and feeling how I was a living, exchanging part of this environment as much as my hands and feet were a living part of my body.
I'm getting the sense that the knowledge in a plant is not confined to a plant or a tree. As I sensed last week with the Eucalyptus tree "reaching," or accessing, my two daughters on both sides of the "veil" (1 dead and 1 alive in WA), the total knowledge of All is contained IN All. Before this experience, this notion (holographic universe?) was an intellectual concept. I actually feel this now.
