An Organic Psychology Report from a Nevada Course Participant
I know for certain that I had completely forgotten about the Tarantula spider that came into our hourse because when I did look down and spot him there in the door jamb I sucked in air and stepped back quickly. His movement scared me at first. They are sort of scary looking and I do not like to hold them. They feel too ech! for me.
I am sure that this creature told me that he was there when he sensed the incoming doom of the big dog, Blondie. Once I notice the spider I was able to open the storm door without worrying about him being crushed. Instead I got th dog's attentions on me before he entered the house and as he came to me I held the door open just a bit longer for the spider to casually walk out and down the two steps to the patio.The spider took his cue immediately from me and began his sauntering descent down the two porch steps and onto the pool patio heading out towards the vegetation in the yard. Blondie did notice him at first and when he was done schlecking me for letting him in the house, he turned to acknowledge the crawly creature stepping down only one of the steps to sniff Mr. Caz again, but immediately came back in when I told him ìno!î Mr. Caz spider friend slowly ambulated across pool patio, stopping briefly once only, to allow Koda a quick sniff, before he went off on his merry way.
I am not sure but the audacity of this spider that boldly walked from the safe protection of his natural desert environment of our front yard, straight into the open front door, and up to this moment of his unfettered departure out the back door was remarkable in my view. After sensing his presence and "hearing" his need to have the back door opened so that he might continue his leisurely walk in the desert, I am convinced that tarantulaís are not only clever but also posses a rather sardonic sense of humor. The spider was insensibly pompous for one being in what could have been an extremely hostile environment for such a creature. I can only surmise that this spider and I were keenly enough in-tune or connected to nature's essence together that he felt quite safe coming inside my home for a little rendezvous. As far as I am concerned, there can be no other explanation. Surely no other tarantula would walk into a house full of people right between the legs of two large men and through the sniffing paths of two large dogs and two house-cats unless he was not fully in touch with nature himself and perhaps operating outside of his natural senses. I donít see that as being possible for a desert spider. But I do believe this particular spider was in possession of an exemplary and unusually high intellect. He simply knew that if he asserted himself with dignity he would not be harmed. This anecdote is utterly true but I must admit that this amazing story came to me from the mind of an equally amazing member of the natural world.
I discovered that Tarantula spiders can be quite audacious and that I adored having the opportunity to see the world from the view of this enchanting creature. Although I am not particularly attracted to spiders after this experience I have a very special place in my heart for the sardonic nature of tarantula. I discovered, too, that I have a similar sense of stubborn will to that of the Tarantula.A very small creature can outwit even some of its most perilous enemies with intellect, tact, strong will and an over abundance of audacity. We have much to learn from those we tend to think are not in communication with us. Perhaps we would all do much better to listen to even the smallest voices in the room for this experience helped me nearly eliminate my need to second guess my intuitions. Oh I still second guess them but I never go with the second guess any more. I always follow my immediate attraction and instinct. This is always hard for me because my instinct takes me to places no other personís instinct would even fathom of contemplating. I do walk on the wild side of world these days. Big fun though!
I am now respecting the authority of my inner senses to be of the utmost intelligence and truth. I trust myself.
