An Organic Psychology Report from a Mississippi Course Participant
In the dark of the early morning dawn, before even the slightest hint of illumination reaches up along the eastern horizon, I walk out on my deck to view the sky. I thankfully obtain permission to gain inspiration by being outside. I am greeted with a rustle in the leaves along my fence line. Revolving 180 degrees and looking west I am breathless as I view the moon hanging above the horizon, a string of clouds just below her appear to support her in the sky. Breathing deeply I feel the freeze in the air as it enters my nostrils, tickling my nose. The air smells cold and clean, the freshness of a new day.
When I cup my hands, no longer able to see the moon and sky, I shiver, just the interference of my sight makes my body feel colder. I find my breath catches. As I allow myself to see more of my morning world, I am awestruck by the beauty of the universe. Breathing I feed her, inhaling she feeds me. Breathing normally again, I warm up and can see my breath in the air as I exhale.
The global community embraces me and me it. My focus on the setting moon, watching her slowly drift below the horizon until all that is visible is her illumination hanging on to the edge of the world. I am so thankful to be here, to be supported by the earth under my feet, by the air around me, by the connections I find in each living, breathing organism.

Being embraced by the giving and receiving of life nourishes my heart.Getting up and out of bed when it is still dark outside is a challenge for me, especially when it is cold. The wrangling thoughts that dark nourishes only my sleep ~ I again reminded and learned that darkness holds a special quietude of nourishment that embraces and warms me.
A small gecko that ran across my husband's chest a few nights ago. After he carefully caught it, I took it outside and calmed it with my breath. When I opened my hand, it seemed to know that I would not hurt it and just sat there for the longest time. I watched the rhythm of its breathing expand and contract its sides. I then put my hand near the ground and it jumped into the rocks. It trusted me and I did not betray that trust. We both gained from the experience.
