An Organic Psychology Report from a Idaho Course Participant
Snow is falling everywhere today. tonight, it is quiet, calm and the weather feels unobtrusive. I see so much negative space 'between' the darkness and the white snow...i am enraptured by its beauty.
I don't know snow. So I ask it if I might spend some time with 'it'. I walk deeper into the inky night air, and the darkness engulfs me. snow is flying around, playfully dancing with the wind. this form of water is light, flaky, gentle, beautiful, unique and soft. The wind creates different patterns of its movement, and I watch in ecstasy as it falls out of the sky like magic. I get a sense of the dimension of air with snow. can this seem possible? I don't look for an immediate answer..i continue trusting what I am being 'shown.' ('i'll ask afterwards,' I think). the spaces between grow deeper, wider, contrasting the flakes that freely spin without 'control' or purpose. How joyous! the ground is now all white. the trees and shrubs are dressed in their elegant white robes, and the road appears clean and new. my lungs are filled with the crisp, fresh air.
I watch the snowflakes fall on my hands, and they crumble and then melt into my palm, like butter sizzling on the stove. Their graceful diminishing causes me to want to engage with them more, differently with each one. I see clusters of snowflakes, hugging each other in the sky; I see single flakes, making swift pirouettes and I laugh as some pivot and turn to the left, or flow down into the earth.
The wind of the night, the wetness of the snowflakes, the ground upon which I stand, covered in snow, and the heat of my hand melts the flakes. air, water, earth, fire...each element is present with me in this moment. I thank the four elements for teaching me the beauty of their understated yet powerful teaching and revealing. I am full, and fully satiated.
I've discovered that language can be a huge trigger, barrier to understanding... yet a medicine by modifying and utilizing different words that help me connect to and integrate nature's essence more authentically. My attractions are changing from being attracted to non-attractions to being attracted to attractions in nature. I need to be outdoors connecting everyday... not doing so allows old patterns resurface.
