I sat closely in front of my giant Asparagus Fern. I've never sat with it before. I asked it's permission, and felt at ease. That usually seems to be the sensation I feel when I ask that question. That must be a "yes".:) I closed my eyes for 10 minutes.
I felt a mix of air moving about the house, cold and warm...moving across my skin on my arms and neck, toes and legs.... Sensing the plant in front of me, I began to feel a warmth emanating from it. Is that possible, I thought? I stayed with it, and began to relax deeply. I kept my thoughts on the word "attraction". I began to drift into a dreamy state.
I opened my eyes to brake the trance, and continued to feel luxuriously relaxed. That feeling remained while I looked around the room. I felt very aware of the presence of air, and how the fern's branches appear to float. It occurs to me that this plant is also being supported by air, as if to make little shelves for it's arms to rest upon! And remembering that amazing symbiosis between plant and human. I felt deep insights about air..how it is like a substance. I notice all the plants have this illusion of being suspended in space. I could almost feel a pulsation. Somehow, this was a revelation.
I don't know why I became so relaxed. Maybe because I was tired and was finally relaxing...just being. I felt comfortable and safe. I think I can trust that was a sensation coming from nature: I can trust that I did feel warmth coming from the plant. Perhaps, that was it's way of letting me know it's attraction to me! Perhaps, I've never noticed heat from a plant, before....but energy is often felt as heat. So logically, I say, that beautiful green fern emanated heat. Wow!
The earth breathes me...re-spiriting....I belong...my exhale is a gift! I absolutely love that thought. I give to nature simply by being.
I felt immense gratitude as the moment changed, and we parted ways.As a change of pace, I went to the theater to see the film "Below Eight" the story of the dog team left behind in Antarctica. I don't know how "true," no one was there to see the dogs' actual behavior, but I believe it. It was one of the best movies, but one of my worst movie experiences-sitting next to an elderly couple who reminded me of my folks in their home (before Dad left last year). This couple kept talking back and forth as if they were at home. I should have followed my inner wisdom when I entered the crowded theater. I didn't ask their permission to speak with them and request they keep quiet. Instead, I plugged my ears (noticeably), covered my ear with my coat, etc. everything short of "be quiet!." I tried thinking it. Now I'm tense. How did I attract that, I ask myself. Oh, and I accidentally bumped the back of the chair in front of me and the guy swung around and said gruffly, stop that! Maybe that's why I didn't do the same. Strange experience. I did not feel connected to people, but to the dogs in the screen!
But, exiting the theater I walked near an Hispanic couple with a young girl of about age 6. She reached out her hand to hold mine! Uninvited. And we proceeded to talk about the movie. So I got connected again!
