Connections With Wild Flower Love
A Course Participant's Report:
After the wedding, my husband and I went for a long walk along a man-made lake near the wedding site. Fishermen and cars have abused the flora around it. A local nature trust has been given caretaking duties over the area now. They have set up barriers so that cars are unable to enter, and smaller fencing around delicate natural spots. They've left the rejuvenation up to nature. Nature, given the chance, has flourished. Wild herbs, weeds and other plants were thriving along with shrub nesting birds, lizards and rabbits. It was a joy to walk through a once quite barren area.
To visit the area with respect I used the consent activity to ask for permission to be with a mass community of bluebells and was warmly accepted with a cautionary note. I stepped around them rather than enter into their space. The bluebells almost shone with fresh flower Love. My sensory brain already knew this Love; my literate brain re-learned it as it strengthened in my consciousness. In their thriving life, I was given the joy of beauty and love.
I was reminded that given the chance nature and people can thrive in their authenticity, and that when we push and pull our environment and each other, to conform to our selfish needs, we stifle it/them as well as ourselves. The chance for Love and joy is trampled upon. However, with understanding, compassion, nurturing, and simply the space to be, we thrive as have the flowers and creatures in this protected place.
What I discovered is that nature is in a constant state of life - that it is non-love that halts her growth. I realized that given the space to be totally me, I can thrive as a natural individual and social being. That if I give others the same space, I nurture a community of Love.
If we spend more time connecting with nature and honoring her intelligence the more we will remember our own connections and with nature and who we really are. I tell my clients about my class I am taking while I work on them if they are interested and most of them are.
I am endlessly grateful to share and learn with all of you on this course. Doing these activities over and over, endlessly and diversely educates me. Not once have I found an activity that did not expand my relationship with nature in and around me---no matter how many times I do it. Each activity has endless life, when shared with nature.
