- Barack Obama OBTAIN A FREE BUTTON that helps your esteem gain the joy of living in balance. Increase your ability to think and relate using the self-correcting powers of natural systems in and around you. Reported Experiences (continued): I could really understand these statements: "Because this activity was on my mind and I was wearing the little button, this scene returned to my mind again and again today. I liked that; it was a great improvement over where my mind can go when its unfocused and I'm undisciplined......With natural mind, the open path flows." I remember writing about having the mindset of a two-year old sometimes; where my mind can just be blank or think simple thoughts such as, "Nice Tree." I too, have noticed my mind wandering towards natural attractions or thoughts of natural attractions when I am in a state of "What Now?" I have to remember that I don't have to anything all of the time; that I can just be and reflect on what is good. Wishing you much natural energy, Sally "The kingdom is within you and it is outside you....Split a piece of wood; I am there. Lift up the stone, and you will find me there." ^^^ I am really drawn into the pottery design button. I find myself staring at it, appreciative of the inherent collective artistic, symbolic alliance with nature within us all, but hidden, lost, not recognized. I have worn my button several days to school, and maybe five people asked what it was...I like wearing it. I've always been attracted to ancient peoples of the Southwest, and the design and button are very symbolic to me. Monday I took my car for servicing and walked home, along a beautiful path overlooking the city. I sat on the highest point, beside a sculpture, and looked at the clouds, ocean, landscape. I breathed deeply and felt full upon walking home, truly connected and free. Last night I drew into the button what was in my head: mountains, sky, meadows and paths; animals roaming freely, quiet and peace and color. Then, there was a jagged line of separation from what is in my fantasy head, with reality of the world and man's assault on nature...and it had a black cloud casting a shadow over a field of flowers. Good activity. "A millenium ago, this ancient button person seems to depict that our being, psyche and nature are identical." It is a continuous thread of knowledge that has been broken. ^^^ The wetland is quiet this morning. The stalks of the cattails have turned brown and the birds are not to be seen or heard right now. The air is cold and I can feel it in my throat and lungs as I breathe in and out. The land has settled in for the winter. I sit on the embankment and face the south, across the wetland. I am attracted to observing the area as a whole today. I ask permission to connect and get the feeling of quiet, peacefulness and instinctively know that, if I match this quiet energy, I am welcome. As I play with modifying the Mimbres Pottery Design, I get a sense of true deep connection between man and nature. However, the interaction is much changed from the time of the Mimbres. In their time, nature surrounded them and knowing about the laws of nature was literally the difference between life and death. Their food, shelter, and clothing came directly from nature. The harmony was necessary and taught to them from birth. Our “progress” has completely changed this for the average U.S. citizen and at this point there is no going back. People are too pervasive in the world for our impact not to be felt even in very remote regions. And in general most people don’t want to go back to life as the Mimbres knew it. But we also can’t continue as we are. So, how do we integrate nature back into our lives? This week I had a very interesting link sent to me by a friend that talks about how we can learn from nature and use nature’s wisdom to guide the designing of our technology and building. So my vision for my Pottery Design was how the future might look, maybe 100 years from now, if we should be so clever as to survive what we are doing to the earth now. How we might integrate our structures and lifestyles with nature and nature’s creatures, a flowing of one with the other without sharp boundaries. It was very fun to daydream a utopia! ^^^ I have admired the Mimbres Pottery Design, but had not related it to picturing what was in my mind. Before going out to "connect", I took a minute to "see" what was in my head… It was words, books, computers, finger placement on the keyboard, stock market quotes, details of projects, etc. As I started to do the activity I found that I could replace the confusion with natural attractions, one at a time. I was attracted to the beauty of the swamp behind my house…. the light-play in the trees, the myriad colors of green and different shapes of leaves. After asking permission, my eye was drawn to the light reflection on a spider web vibrating in an imperceptible breeze. As it shimmered, surrounding reflections and flashes of light widened my view. I replaced the bird in the drawing with an azalea branch which was back-lit by the sun. The light seemed to catch the aura of its leaves, outlining the leaves with a silver brilliance. The cool afternoon air was still. Suddenly, to my right, a dozen or so small branches of tender leaves started to wiggle, moved by some breeze that again I cannot feel. The wiggling of the leaves made me laugh. The more the leaves wiggled, the more I laughed! I pictured the leaves in my head as joy-generators! As they stopped moving, my smile remained. When I first walked down to the edge of the swamp I could hear sounds of traffic, the heating unit, a leaf blower, but overall I was attracted to the sound of silence. I could replace the sounds with the silence, and it brought feelings of peace and comfort. The Pottery Design shows what my ancient relative had in his head – what he was thinking about. As I replace the bird with this swamp – or with the leaves, they become the center of my world. I feel renewed and at peace. ^^^ In this activity I replaced the bird in the Mimbres design first with an ice covered leaf, then with a snow covered tree, then with a snowflake. In all three occasions, the sensory attraction of water and its life sustaining qualities along with the cycle at which it accomplishes such a task was alive and well in my senses and thoughts. After wearing this pin for a few days the number one comment I received was, "What is this?" A perfect way, as The Web of Life Imperative book describes, to begin a conversation about our need to connect with nature. More specifically it usually began a brief discussion of the importance of recognizing and honoring Mother Nature and our connection to her, to recognize our self-destructive habits brought on by our dominate ways of thinking and being, and to find ways to reconnect with nature that do not strive to dominate and control, but rather to sustainably cooperate and coexist interdependently with her. ^^^ The Nature Trail Activity provoked some thoughts… “Without using words, the sensation thanks and fulfills your for reconnecting. It thanks you for your natural gifts to the global community.” Wow…THAT’S what those good feelings are!!!! I really liked thinking of that in that light. And adding to that….”..rewards you by giving you good feelings. Do you trust that is nature’s way? If so, can you trust thoughtful sensory connections with nature to help you guide and support your daily life?” Well I sure believe I can now more than I did before doing this online nature trail. “We don’t exclusively own our natural attraction senses and sensitivities, we share them with every species. They help the natural community beneficially flow through us and us through it.” That is so beautiful. When a fly landed on my book, I felt that connection, that shared spirit, and noticed its beauty, which is rare to notice with a fly. I feel like a fool for all the times I have not chosen to follow my natural attraction senses, because clearly there is much logic in doing so, and so many damn GOOD feelings. I discovered there is a reason we get such good feelings in nature…that is nature supporting us, and saying thanks. If I let nature be my guide and follow my attraction senses, I will be all right. I share the same air as a fly, it flows through me and flows through all other beings, we are connected. I am a person who gets good feelings in nature when I look at the intricate details of a fly and feel our connectedness and when I am all alone in nature's beauty and stillness for I see so much green around me, in the grass and the trees, surrounded by the magnificent blue of the sky and start whiteness of the clouds. It would be sad to not be able to have experienced this today. I needed that healing. I find it very inspiring and interesting to listen to the reactions to Nature that other people have. I accompanied my son on a short trip and we had to travel through some very beautiful nature scenes out in the desert. As he is not a "student" like I am, and he is often stressed out, I was anxious to see his reactions. Although they were raised out in the country, going on camping & fishing trips I am always interested to see what they have to say. The light from the sun coming over the mountains was the most noticeable thing early in the morning. It lit up things -- made shadows, and also made certain things more noticeable. The SUN is the central part of all of Nature that helps keep us alive. I asked him questions about his feelings about the beauty of what we were seeing. As we traveled longer, I noticed that we were both experiencing Nature more and more. By the time we took a break and stopped for some food we were more inclined to sit outside on a picnic table to eat. Our senses had become more and more in tune with Nature and we felt a lot calmer, happier and at peace. LOVE blooms in these types of moments...we feel more caring, compassionate, and sweet. He said."I don‚t know why people want to fight and argue over the issue of taking care of the environment-- why would we want to mess it all up?" We arrived at our friend's place and I had the opportunity to sit outside for a while and commune with the trees, bushes, flowers, etc. The light from the sun again brightened up everything and made my senses much more keen to the various things that I was observing colors of the birds, faces in the clouds and warmth of the wind." ^^^ Nature, thank you for my life I am happy to be living. Each and every day what I find attractive is the opportunity to live . . . I love life because of the experience. There is not one particular attraction that I find better than another or one I appreciate more. Life is beautiful I can compare life to the colorful sunrises and sunsets or a storm brewing on the distant mountain top . . . or the rain that falls from the sky cleansing/nourishing the earth. I only have the trust and love that live in my own heart. To choose one beautiful sense over another is just too difficult . . . my validation is living. I love how nature expresses life through me as I grow fresh from the heart of love. Oh what a wellspring of divinity. That I as a human was given the right to live. Born from the mother as she nursed me with her honey and milk. As I feel the vibrations of NIAL harmonious accord one with nature as I continuously vibrate thoughts from living. We have such power to free ourselves from bondage through the process of reconnecting to nature/NIAL . . . hold steadfast to what is attractive to you as one recognizes that thought is the mediator between the divine mind and every bodily ailment of discord in the world . . . uniting with love/NIAL ever ready to give its healing balm of pure love to those who seek. Being the truth establishes you in constructive thought currents that you are always in the ever-flowing stream of loving thoughts. Fresh from the heart of love is the relationship between you and the experience. Recognition with the spirit/nature is a true power/strength/love/ in nature in and around us and it is ever ready to heal what ails you. We have the power to enslave or free ourselves. Without it I'd be a suffering human being. Life is worth living . . . a glorious privilege. Continued Act
